After participating in two “Creating Digital Interactive Notebook” webinar sessions with Lindsey Harlan, I felt brave enough to attempt my first digital interactive notebook! The DINB: Cheese Unit covers a variety of information around cheese and also includes a couple of tasty labs (according to my students)! If you have the opportunity to participate in any of Lindsey’s sessions, I highly recommend it!
Happy New Year! I was in the middle of my Pasta Unit and planned to move into meats and proteins afterwards, but then we went remote. Needless to say, my plans went by the wayside…so to speak. Since the plan was to begin with beef, I decided to forge ahead and create this E-Learning Ground Beef Web Activity for my students to complete virtually. As many of the lessons found on this website, this activity could easily be used in the regular classroom–the only thing missing are the labs!
The Stir Fry Interactive assignment is an assignment for my students to complete digitally, in Google Classroom. This Stir Fry Interactive E-Learning assignment takes students through a variety of concepts related to stir fry cooking such as the origins, the benefits of cooking this way, knife cuts, featured characteristics, food group analysis, cooking steps, and chopstick etiquette. If you’re able to cook, a vegetable stir fry recipe is included to practice those referenced knife cuts. If you are unable to cook, students still learn alot about stir fry cooking!
During COVID-19, April Dull of Pennsylvania presented a webinar: “Using Canva to Inspire Students to Think and Express Themselves Creatively”. After participating in her presentation where the cross stitch unit was introduced, I knew I had to feature April on the website! Read on to see how a cross stitch unit was taught virtually to her students. While this unit was taught E-learning style, it can be used within a traditional or blended classroom.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many of us find ourselves having to provide activities or lessons to our students that can be shared through remote learning. The following “Handwashing Activities for Distance Learning” may offer you some ideas that you can share with your students for enrichment or new learning. Either way, they are practical life skills and habits to learn and practice during these difficult times.
Food Dilemmas are great to use as stand alone assignments or to assign as a culminating project in any given lesson or unit. More importantly, since many of us are on hiatus from our normal teaching routine, food dilemmas are an ideal solution when having to prepare e-learning or flex lessons, especially during this corona virus pandemic!
