If you’ve read the majority of my lessons you know already that I am a really big fan of experimenting and allowing students to figure it out. For this lesson I like to give students a general idea of how to make granola bars (See recipe) but then let them choose from a “bar” of ingredients to make their bars unique. If they keep the proportions similar to the base recipe they usually turn out just fine.

Multiple Intelligences
This lesson focuses on Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences. Students determine how they are smart and then learn more about the learning styles and how they apply to children. To make it fun, I will have the students participate in 6 different activities each illustrating various learning styles. Students must identify the learning style(s) illustrated in each activity and justify why. A quiz on the multiple intelligence will complete the lesson.

Grains unit: Day 4 Pasta Fundraiser
Day 4 of the grains unit is the pasta fundraiser. I chose to do pasta as this unit’s fundraiser because most students have cooked pasta before so they have a foundation to help with the intensity that a fundraiser can bring. Depending on the semester and the student’s abilities I have done several different pasta fundraisers.
Grains Unit: Day 3 International Rice Lab

This lesson forces students to think about the travel & tourism industry as a whole, historically. There are two projects that have students plan a vacation for a specific amount of money. There is also a mini assignment that has students create a timeline of how the travel/tourism industry changed over time in America. Finally, there is an mini-paper assignment about the future of tourism/travel.
Looking for Parenting Curriculum? Check out COPE24! (sponsored post)
Every so often I will write a sponsored post. I allow companies who have products or services that I think would be helpful to you as readers advertise through a sponsored post. COPE24 is a parenting curriculum that is unique in that it is not a typical lecture style DVD but rather a DVD with realistic scenarios that parents deal with that are open ended allowing for plenty of discussion opportunities.
