It’s always fun to make something festive for the different holidays throughout the year. This is a 4th of July cake made with different jello flavors mixed into ordinary white cake mix. Make sure you think about how the flavors you choose will taste together. I did blue and red raspberry.
Putting it together is a fairly easy after you see how it is done. The pictures below should help. I used the lid from the shortening to cut out my smallest circle and the 9″ cake pan for the outer ring size.
I highly recommend using parchment paper to insure that your cakes come cleanly out of the pan! You can also sprinkle in some mini white chocolate chips into the blue cake for “stars” if you want to get technical.
Materials
- 2 Recipes Butter Cream
- 1 9″ red cake
- 1 9″ white cake
- 1 9″ blue cake, cut to size
- Parchment Paper
- Scissors
- 1 box Blue Jello
- 1 box Red Jello
When the red and white cakes are cooled, cut them in half horizontally, ice and stack a red to a white; repeat with the remaining two halves. You cut the center out of the blue 9″ cake and fill it with one of the red/white cakes iced together cut to size. So in the end, you should have a little blue cake and a ring of red/white cake with a hole in the middle leftover.
