Congratulations to Elizabeth Wilhelm, this month’s Family and Consumer Science teacher of the month. Elizabeth is a veteran teacher of 32 years, currently teaching at Plainfield High School in Indiana although she has taught all ages from young children to adults. She enjoys the creativity that a Family and Consumer Science teacher has everyday and every semester for updating and that every day is different.

  • Elizabeth’s innovative teaching strategies revolve around the use of her “Big Campus”, community service activities, grant applications, hands on activities.
  • She keeps up with the latest trends in Family and Consumer Sciences. For example in fashion and textiles, she keeps up with current fashions, trendy fabrics, and the re-use & re-cycle fad. In her nutrition and wellness classes she encourages her students to have gardens, go to Farmer Markets, make healthy choices at making foods “fast”.
