Its amazing how many students do not learn how to set a table at home these days-even a basic table setting. This lesson teaches students the correct table setting with a hands on approach.
Students will compare two different brands of the same appliance, choosing one to hypothetically purchase and evaluate their decision.
Given a basic knowledge of how to make homemade pasta and how to deep fry, students will synthesize these methods to create cannolis. This recipe is one that I created after much experimenting due to a “zero tolerance” alcohol policy that does not allow us to use any form of alcohol in our recipes. That being said, the shells taste good but may not taste as authentic as one might like. My goal was for the students to be able to learn the process more than the taste.
If you have never made homemade pasta with your students you are missing out. It is a blast and my students’ reactions are always funny as they stare in amazement that you can make pasta from scratch!
