Electric Quilt integrates sewing with technology. It allows students to combine blocks, borders and virtual fabrics, turning their computer screen into a design wall. The program allows one to print quilt labels, draw original block designs, and even import scanned fabric and photos.
One of the highlights of fashion design or sewing class can be a fashion show. Fashion design students put on an annual show calling formal wear companies to borrow dresses and tuxes, as well as local hair and makeup salons for their services. Other groups like culinary or hospitality can get involved by selling food. Teachers can even be invited to wear their old prom dresses!
This is by far my favorite educational video that I have ever purchased. Most educational videos are over a hundred dollars for a mediocre often corny video hardly worth the price. This video that was under twenty dollars made lasting impressions on my students as the majority of the class listed this lesson as the most valuable lesson they took out of Culinary II.
