Talking Points: Home Decor Trends

The definition of a trend is a general direction in which something is developing or changing. In the world of interior design, trends are constantly changing. Decor that was “in” is now suddenly on it’s way “out” and vice versa! In this Talking Points: Home Decor Trends, students will explore current home decor trends and then create a moodboard for a specific room that incorporates the trends in a cohesive manner.

3-D Housing Final

Do you teach a Housing or Interior Design class? Are in need of an end of the year project? Now, more than ever, students need a break from their screens and this hands-on housing project delivers that and more!

Design a Tile Project

What do you do when your custodian has leftover tiles from various school projects? Ask him if you can have them for a class project! That’s what Laurie Hagberg, a FACS teacher from Mankato West High School, Minnesota did. Laurie uses these tiles in a refurbished coaster project in her Interior Design class that not only reinforces the color schemes, but show’s her students how they can recycle items into gifts for their future homes, apartments and/or dorms. Students enjoy this creative, hands-on project and are excited to take them home!
